Duo Pianistico Ragazzoni

Biography

The sisters Marzia and Fabiana Ragazzoni, born in Caracas respectively in 1977 and 1983, form the Ragazzoni Piano Duo. 

They have graduated with full marks, praise and honours at the Istituto Musicale Pareggiato “Orazio Vecchi”  in Modena, under the guidance of Professor Mrs Enza Iori, achieving the Carmen Campori prize as best graduated of their own academic year. 

Both have had significant soloist careers. Fabiana is currently finishing her university studies and Marzia has a degree in Musical Heritage Conservation. The sisters have a strong artistic attachment to one another which has drawn them increasingly to piano duets.

In September 2003 the Piano Duet has brilliantly concluded the triennial course of Chamber Music held by Master Pier Narciso Masi at the famous International Perfecting Piano Academy “Incontri col Maestro” in Imola (Italy) achieving the “Master” Diploma, as highest recognition given by this Academy.

His time spent with M° Masi provided a precious artistic and musical grounding. The Duo’s performing careers have been enriched with many courses at the Academie de Musique de Sion (Suisse) with M° R. Szidon, at the Landesakademie fur die Musizierende Jugen in Ochsenhausen (Germany) with M° Hans-Peter and Volker Stenzl, in various italian cities with M° P. N. Masi and all around Europe with the priceless musical suggestions of the famous pianist Lilya Zilberstein.

His repertoire is in constant evolution, ranging from the baroque to the contemporary, also containing less well known works, brought to light by a process of continual research. 

The Piano Duet has been requested to play in various Italian and European cities such as Modena, Reggio Emilia, Lucca, Bologna, Parma, Montecatini, Imola, Viareggio, Massa Marittima, Arezzo, Stresa, Parma, Padova, Cattolica, Cento, Trieste, Milano, Venezia, Udine, Roma, Groznjan (Croazia), Oslo (Norway), Rosas (Girona-Spain), Stresa, Toulouse (France), Hannover, Ochsenhausen and Bad Homburg (Germany), Caracas, New York (USA) where in it has been taking part in cultural events organized by important Musical Associations such as “Gioventù Musicale”, “Amici del Parnaso”, “A.GI.MUS”, “Dino Ciani”, “Il Tempietto”, “Nei Suoni dei Luoghi”, “Il Festival delle Arti”, “Corale Verdi”, “Donatori di Musica”, "Mattinate Musicali Internazionali", “Pau Casalis” (Spain), “Association culturelle de Toulouse” (France) always enjoing esteem for his musical fusion, brilliant virtuosity, technical preparation and ability to balance sounds.

Sponsored by the Embassy of the Bolivian Republic of Venezuela, the Duo played at the Latin American Institute (ILA) in Rome.

On July 2007 Marzia and Fabiana played Mozart’s Concert KV 365 for two pianos and orchestra with the Orquesta Sinfònica de Venezuela in the “Teresa Carreño” theatre of Caracas and again on May 2009 Mozart’s Concert KV 242 for two pianos and orchestra with the Orquesta Sinfònica de la Juventud Venezolana “Simon Bolivar” with director M° Christian Vazquez. The Duo partecipated to “Grieg Festival 2007” in Oslo where had a Recital.

Since 2009 is member of COMI (Italian Music Operators Assocition) project in Milan (Italy).

On March 2010 Duo Ragazzoni won the Honorary Mention at the 11th Web Concert hall Competition in the USA.

On May 2010 they won the First Prize at the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition in New York (USA). They made their debut at Carnegie Hall Theatre.

Ragazzoni Piano Duet has won the first absolute prize in the following competitions: “Concours Grieg”- International Piano Duo Competition di Oslo, “C. Togni” di Brescia, “Feroci” S. Giovanni Valdarno, “Nuovi Orizzonti”Arezzo, “Isole Borromee - D. Cian” International Music Contest, “F. Forgione – D. Ciani” International Music Contest, National Performing Musical Contest for Chamber Music Formations from Duets up to Quintets, in Coriano (Rimini),  “Dino Caravita” National Musical Contest for Young Players and Singers in Fusignano (Ravenna), “Città di Cento” National Musical Contest; the Duet has won the second prize in “The Festival delle Arti 2003” – classical music category, “Città di Padova” International Musical Contest, piano four hands category,Young Musicians National Festival” in Valconca (Rimini), “G. Rospigliosi” national piano contest (first prize not awarded) and has won the third prize in the sixth “Luigi Nono” National Chamber Music Contest, in Venaria Reale (Turin).

In 2004 recorded, for the CRP productions, the CD “The Piano in Recital” (pieces of Mozart, Schubert, Grieg, Tchaikovsky, Hindemith) and in 2007 his second CD “Heart, Reason and Irony” (pieces of Busoni, Stravinsky, Reger, Hindemith).
